Following NVIDIA, AMD also showed new video cards at CES 2022. At the same time, in terms of the number of models, the vendor bypassed its competitor: in addition to the budget RX 6500 XT for desktops, the Radeon family was immediately replenished with eight graphics accelerators for laptops.

Video cards of the Radeon RX 6000S series are aimed at laptops with a case thickness of up to 20 millimeters. In total, the company introduced three models as part of the new family: Radeon RX 6600S (4 GB), RX 6700S (8 GB) and RX 6800S (8 GB) with declared power consumption of 65, 85 and 100 W, respectively. All of them have become 20% thinner than similar mobile solutions of the M-series.
All new items have acquired a 128-bit memory bus, the effective frequency of which is 14 GHz, and the bandwidth is up to 224 GB / s. In addition, each of the models has 32 MB of “gaming” Infinity Cache. According to AMD, the Radeon RX 6600S can “squeeze” up to 80 fps in games such as Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War and Deathloop with high graphics settings, and the RX 6800S is capable of delivering from 100 fps in the same disciplines.
The company has also expanded its M-series branded mobile graphics cards with five new models: Radeon RX 6850M XT, RX 6650M XT, RX 6650M, RX 6500M, and Radeon RX 6300M. According to the vendor, the performance of XT versions of mobile GPUs increased by up to 20% compared to the base versions.
Another novelty of the company is the budget desktop video card Radeon RX 6500 XT based on the 6nm Navi 24 XT graphics chip. The model is focused on running games in 1080p resolution – it is equipped with 4 GB of GDDR6 video memory with a 654-bit bus, an effective frequency of 18 GHz and a bandwidth of 144 GB / s. The maximum GPU frequency is 2815 MHz, and the power consumption is up to 107 W.
According to AMD, in gaming scenarios, the video card bypasses NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 by 20-60% in terms of gaming performance in various popular titles. In addition, it supports the new Radeon Super Resolution upscaling feature with upscaling resolutions up to 4K.
The start of sales of the Radeon RX 6500 XT is scheduled for January 19 at a suggested retail price of $ 199. The first laptops with graphics accelerators from the Radeon RX 6000S series will hit the market before the end of Q1 2022.
